Our Vision
I grew up on a 2,000 acre commercial cattle farm in the Midwest. By the time I reached high school, I realized that my calling was not in farming, but rather in architecture and real estate development. Upon graduating with my architectural degree, I moved to NYC and never looked back. While my life was rooted in rural life, I knew that my future was urban.
Fast forward 40 years, and I somehow stumbled across this urban farm – an incredible 110- acre property located inside the Baltimore Beltway! Located in an ag preservation easement and suffering from 50 years of decline as an uncared-for commercial corn field, my past came flooding back. It quickly became my passion to restore this little corner of the world and make it a model for how we should treat this earth. Finding a kindred spirit in my business partner, Joe Shaffer, we have transformed Hidden Waters Farm into a model of regenerative farming. More importantly, we have built a community around Hidden Waters as a trustworthy place to gather with friends and family, to truly understand where our food comes from, and along with our like-minded employees, open our doors to a whole new generation to experience the symbiotic relationship between our food, our earth, and ourselves. Through coffee, we look to expand our community to provide a place to relax, unwind, and experience the beauty and simplicity of the farm as our ancestors knew it.
